From beautiful beaches to tranquil bushland reserves, over 33,000 hectares, or approximately 33%, of the Gosford Local Government Area is comprised of open space areas.


A large proportion of these open space areas are under the management of Gosford City Council including natural reserves, mountains, bushlands, beaches, wetlands, foreshores, estuaries, active recreation areas (including a number of sports grounds, skate parks and associated facilities) and passive recreation areas (including parks and playgrounds). In addition, Council undertakes the management of an aquatic facility, Gosford Olympic Pool, multi-purpose leisure centre, the Peninsula Leisure Centre, a Beach Lifeguard Service and Patonga Caravan and Camping Area.

To ensure the long term sustainability of these areas and facilities, Council is currently in the process of developing a strategic plan that will provide direction for the provision and management of open space areas, recreation facilities and leisure programs to accommodate current and future community needs.

    The forums for the Open Space and Leisure Services Strategic Plan have now closed. Council would like to thank all the community members that participated in these forums for taking the time to provide feedback.

    The feedback received from the community through the online forums, community workshops and surveys is now being considered and collated. An update will be provided on the progress of the development of the strategy as it becomes available.
