The viewing platform at Warren Avenue lookout, Avoca Beach, was planned to be demolished due to safety concerns. The state it was in posed a hazard to the public, and Central Coast Council is committed to ensuring everyone’s safety.

We invited the local community to participate in a consultation process to determine the future of the site. Your feedback helped us decide whether to:

1. Replace the viewing platform or
2. Create unobstructed views of Avoca Beach through vegetation management.

For those community members who supported a replacement, we asked your ideas for design features including seating, lighting and accessibility.

Following the demolition of the old lookout structure, Council procured Concept Designs for a new lookout based on your feedback. The new structure will be disability compliant and use lightweight composite decking with stainless steel handrail and balustrade.

Construction commenced 18 May 2026 with works expected to take up to 6 weeks (weather permitting).
