Central Coast Council is establishing a Coastal, Estuary and Floodplain Risk Management Sub-Committee to guide and advise on the sustainable management of our region’s vital natural assets.

This Sub-Committee will operate for an initial term of two years and will play a key role in shaping the future of our coastal, estuarine, and floodplain environments.

Who should apply?

We are seeking community members with skills, knowledge, or experience in:

  • Coastal management and engineering
  • Estuary health and biodiversity
  • Flood risk management and emergency planning
  • Community education and engagement
  • Governance and project collaboration

Objectives

  • Represent your community

    Provide expert and community-driven advice to Council on coastal, estuary, and floodplain management.

  • Program implementation

    Support the development and implementation of Coastal Management Programs.

  • Provide advice

    Advise on flood risk mitigation strategies and environmental sustainability.

  • Comply with legislative requirements

    Act as the Local Floodplain Risk Management Committee in accordance with the NSW Government’s Flood Risk Management Manual 2023.

Summary of Terms of Reference (ToR)

Includes pollution risks, water quality, flood mitigation, ecosystem health, and long-term planning.

Comprises the Mayor, nominated Councillors, and up to 3 independent community representatives.

Held quarterly at Council’s Wyong Administration Building or via hybrid formats.

Can make recommendations to Council via the Environment and Planning Committee.

Members must reflect geographic diversity and expertise in coastal, estuarine, and floodplain issues.
