What is the Draft Flood Policy
The Draft Flood Policy outlines Council’s legal responsibilities for managing flood risk across the region. It also sets a consistent approach to planning for climate change and sea level rise, helping protect our community and environment.
Currently, there is no formal flood policy in place. This draft aims to:
Clarify complex flood-related legislation and guidelines.
The policy will harmonise how sea level rise and climate change are considered across the Central Coast, replacing previous inconsistencies between the former Wyong and Gosford Councils Flood Policies.
Provide clear, science-based planning guidance for residents, developers, and stakeholders.

Council is currently reviewing all feedback received during the public exhibition and will prepare a report outlining the key outcomes.
