The Mangrove Mountain Advisory Sub-Committee has been established by Central Coast Council to provide expert and community-based advice on the management of the Upper Ourimbah Creek Catchment.

This catchment is a vital source of drinking water and environmental health for the region.

The Sub-Committee will operate for an initial period of two years, reporting to Council via the Environment and Planning Committee.

We are seeking expressions of interest from community members with skills, knowledge, or experience in:

  • Management of drinking water catchments, groundwater management, and pollution control
  • Community education and engagement
  • Governance and project collaboration

To be eligible, individuals must be actively involved in the Central Coast community, and demonstrate at least one of the following:

  • Active involvement with community groups or organisations in Central Coast local government area, able to bring relevant matters to the Sub-Committee for consideration and are willing to educate and inform their community networks on matters considered.
  • Active involvement with an established and relevant Environmental Group user group, or
  • Active involvement with an established and relevant Community Business group user group, or
  • Active involvement with an established and relevant Mangrove Mountain user group, or
  • A resident and/or ratepayer residing in the Upper Ourimbah Creek Drinking Water Catchment area in the Central Coast local government area. (As defined by Figure 1)

Objectives

  • Monitor and advise

    Monitor and advise on the short, medium, and long-term management of the Upper Ourimbah Creek Catchment.

  • Provide guidance

    Address pollution risks and provide guidance on water quality management.

  • Support our drinking water supply

    Support the protection and health of the drinking water supply within the catchment.

  • Champion collaboration

    Facilitate collaboration between Council, community, and subject matter experts.

Membership

The Sub-Committee includes:

  • The Mayor and nominated Councillors.
  • Up to five independent community representatives.
  • Observers including other Councillors, Council officers, and invited experts from government agencies, academia, and industry.

Meeting details

  • Held quarterly on Thursdays at 3:00pm (September, November, March, May).
  • Location: Council Administration Building, 2 Hely Street, Wyong.
  • Meetings may be held in-person, online, or hybrid.
  • Minutes and recommendations are made publicly available.
