Public exhibition now open

Central Coast Council has developed a draft Toukley Community Facilities Masterplan to establish a long-term coordinated vision for the area between Heador Street and Ray Street in Toukley.

The proposed Masterplan includes a new multi-purpose Community Centre and a range of community, recreation and open space improvements to surrounding facilities. This will ensure the area is more connected, vibrant and accessible and can better support local services and activities.

We are now inviting feedback from people who live in or around Toukley, regularly visit the area or work in the area to take a look at the draft masterplan and tell us what you think. Input collected will help inform the next phase of the project, including future opportunities for more detailed design consultation on certain features.

About the masterplan

In 2023 the Toukley Neighbourhood Centre building closed its doors after ongoing damp and mould problems due to site drainage issues. Rather than continuing to attempt to repair the building, Council saw an opportunity to reimagine the entire precinct area.

This masterplan was then developed to set the vision for a high-quality, multipurpose community precinct that supports a wide range of activities for the whole community.

The draft concept design was shaped through input from Council teams responsible for community services, assets and recreation planning. Site-specific conditions such as flooding, drainage and servicing requirements were considered alongside usage data and the long-term needs of the community. Key stakeholders who use the existing facilities were also consulted early in the process.

We are now inviting the community to share their feedback on the masterplan and concept design, to ensure the precinct meets the needs of the community now and into the future.

The site principles have been developed based on analysis findings as well as stakeholder feedback. They set the foundation for the master plan to create an active, safe and accessible place for the community.

  1. Relocate parking to the edges to maximise open space and safety
  2. Create clear connectivity
  3. Create a vibrant community hub that activates the site
  4. Improve access and activation of the aquatic centre
  5. Consolidate build form & amenities
  6. Improve the northern park edge
