Council has developed a draft Water and Sewer Concessions and Rebate Policy to establish a framework for financial relief and rebates to eligible residential customers who are experiencing financial hardship due to home dialysis, concealed leaks or sewer connection costs.

The policy will replace three existing policies to provide more clarity, improved access to assistance, and a more streamlined application process.

Supporting those who need it most

  • This policy applies to eligible customers who

    • use water for dialysis medical treatment
    • require sewerage connection assistance
    • have been affected by concealed leaks
  • This policy does not apply to

    • water or sewer service charges
    • commercial properties, with the exception of circumstances outlined in the policy
    • properties where water leaks results from negligence, faulty fixtures, irrigation systems, swimming pools or appliances.

By establishing guidelines for the assessment of applications for financial assistance, this policy seeks to apply the principles of social justice, fairness, integrity, appropriate confidentially and compliance with statutory requirements.

This policy focusses solely on water and sewer-related financial support. Broader hardship relating to rates and charges is handled separately under the Hardship and Debt Recovery Policy.

Your feedback will help shape the final version of this policy before adoption.
